Updating Messenger?Should I download Messenger 6.0?You can read our Yahoo! Messenger 6.0 review at Messenger 6.0 Review. Known Yahoo! Messenger 6.0 Issues
1) No Emotions appear. Use the View>>Emotions List option to show them. Add-OnsMost add-on programs should now work, all of ours do! Offline MessagesOffline messages in Yahoo! Messenger 6.0 are deleted as soon as you close the offline message viewer as in Yahoo! Messenger 5.6. So even if you didn't read the messages, they get deleted! What if I don't like it?If you don't like it, you can still download the 5.6 versions, which could range from a few minutes for fast Internet users, to 30 minutes + for slower modems. You COULD however, retain the 5.6 install file, so you don't have to download if you wish to go back! How to retain the 5.6 install fileCopy this file: c:\program files\yahoo!\installs\ymsgrie.exe to a new location, such as your desktop, but not in the Yahoo! folder. Backing up Smileys/Emotions/Archives
If you are uninstalling or updating you should make a backup of these files if you use them/made customisations. To backup, I simply mean copy the folder (right click, select copy) and paste into another, NOT the Yahoo! Program Files folder. Going back to 5.6
Remove 6.0 first: SupportYahoo! Help still has 5.6 Support files! |
